Receiving a Registered E-mail® message

To create accountability in the e-mail transmission, the sender must have verifiable proof and the receiver must be aware that the sender has such proof. For each Registered E-mail® message , the sender can opt to make the receiver aware that that particular e-mail has been sent "Registered". The RPost™ system adds the trademark "(R)egistered:™ " in the subject line and places a Registered E-mail® banner within the e-mail. The receiver of a Registered E-mail® message is aware that the message has been sent Registered and the sender has proof of the transmission.

The receiver does not need to do anything differently - simply open the e-mail as they would normally do for any e-mail. All attachments are included, as if it were a regular e-mail. The receiver is not required to click-through or download anything.

This shows the commercial look for the U.S. market. When the receiver opens the e-mail, a graphic banner or the words "***Registered E-mail***" (if the receiver does not have HTML or is off-line) appear at the top of the e-mail. All attachments are included in the e-mail, as originally sent.

Common Questions:

What happens if the user reads e-mail in plain text?
If the banner can be viewed, it will be present as shown. If the receiver cannot view the banner due to their e-mail settings, the words "***Registered E-mail***" would be at the top of the e-mail.

Does the recipient need any special software other than an e-mail program?
No. The recipient only needs a valid e-mail address.

Can anyone, besides the intended recipient, read my e-mail?
The Registered E-mail® system meets the requirements of the Privacy Act of the United States. No non-related party or individual is authorized to read your e-mail, including the United States Federal Government. Any tampering or interception of a Registered E-mail® message would be a criminal offense. RPost uses encryption technology for authentication purposes, not to place the e-mail into private code. The system is compatible with standard desktop privacy encryption programs and document encryption techniques.

Can you send a Registered E-mail® message after 5pm?
Yes. You can use Registered E-mail® service twenty-four hours a day, seven days per week, anywhere in the world.

Can the Registered E-mail® service be used for encrypted messages?
Yes. The RPost system can complement most standard PKI encryption set-ups. RPost leverages whatever standard encryption certificates the sender is using to allow "Registered AND Encrypted" e-mail. Further, the sender may password encrypt a document file and attach it to any Registered E-mail® message.
