RPost has settled its separate patent infringement suits against both Swiss Post and Canada Post after court-ordered mediation. RPost said in a terse statement that the settlement terms are “consistent with our intent to vigorously protect our intellectual property everywhere.”
Canada Post, which is paying RPost some undisclosed amount of money under its settlement, has agreed to “block messaging traffic of its epost product to the United States IP address range.”
The settlement resolves RPost’s complaint based on its US patent. It’s got a Canadian patent and will be examining the recently reprised epost that Canada Post is depending on to tickle its revenues to see if it infringes.
The terms Swiss Post accepted are secret but evidently it has agreed to abandon the US market, an undertaking it made to RPost once before and reneged on.
