RPost Releases RAPTOR AI Observability Module for Email Data Protection

New RAPTOR AI capability helps organizations discover when email content, attachments, recipients, and links indicate use of AI tools that may expose sensitive business information.

RPost today announces the release of its RAPTOR™ AI Threat and AI Observability Module, a new email security capability designed to help organizations identify and manage AI-related data protection risks in business communications.

The module addresses a growing enterprise challenge - employees are increasingly using AI tools to summarize emails, rewrite responses, analyze attachments, prepare meeting notes, review contracts, translate messages, and draft customer or vendor communications. Some of this use is approved and governed; some is not. In many cases, strategic, confidential, legal, financial, customer, or operational content may be routed to AI systems without the visibility normally expected from enterprise security and compliance programs.

While many organizations are implementing AI governance controls around web applications, APIs, browser uploads, and copy/paste activity, email remains a separate and important exposure point. Business content often moves through email before and after it is used with AI. A confidential email thread may be summarized by an AI tool, an attachment may be analyzed by an AI assistant, an AI-generated summary may be forwarded to colleagues, or an external AI workflow may be included as a recipient or link. These events may not be visible if controls focus only on the browser or application layer.

Key AI Observability capabilities include:

• AI-Generated Attachment Detection – reviews document metadata, filenames, creator fields, last-modified properties, embedded properties, and other indicators to identify attachments that may have been created, modified, summarized, or repackaged using AI tools.
• AI-Generated Email Detection – identifies email subjects, bodies, paragraphs, or sections that appear to have been generated or significantly assisted by AI.
• AI Recipient Detection – identifies AI assistants, note-taking services, transcription platforms, AI ingestion addresses, or AI workflows included in To, CC, or BCC fields.
• AI Tool Reference Detection – detects references to AI platforms within email content, URLs, attachments, and message text, including language suggesting that content was pasted into, summarized by, rewritten by, or analyzed with AI.
• AI Domain Detection in Links – identifies links pointing to AI platforms, AI-powered services, AI document-analysis tools, AI portals, and AI workflow destinations.

• Prompt Injection Detection – identifies instructions intended to alter AI behavior, bypass controls, suppress warnings, mislead summaries, trigger unauthorized actions, or extract confidential information.

The RAPTOR AI Observability Module is intended to complement broader AI governance programs. It does not replace controls that monitor browsers, APIs, SaaS applications, or endpoint activity. Instead, it provides email-specific visibility into how AI use appears inside ordinary communications, where sensitive content is often exchanged, summarized, forwarded, approved, or acted upon.

For data protection teams, this creates a new rule layer - email policies can detect and route messages based on AI-specific indicators. For example, an outbound message to an unapproved AI assistant containing a financial attachment can be blocked or routed for review, a legal email referencing use of a consumer AI tool can be logged for compliance, a customer contract summary identified as AI-generated can be flagged before redistribution, or a message containing hidden AI-directed instructions can be isolated before an assistant summarizes it.
